The WHO interregional seminar drew up the following provisional list of the diseases that lend themselves to acupuncture treatment.

Upper Respiratory Tract:

1. Acute sinusitis
2. Acute rhinitis
3. Common cold
4. Acute tonsillitis

Respiratory System:

5. Acute bronchitis
6. Bronchial asthma (most effective in children and in patients without complicating diseases)

Disorders of the eye:

7. Acute conjunctivitis
8. central retinitis
9. Myopia (in children)
10. Cataract (without complications)

Disorders of the mouth:

11. Toothache
12. post - extract on pain
13. Gingivitis
14. Acute and chronic pharyngitis

Gastro - intestinal disorders:

15. Spasms of oesophagus and cardia
16. Hiccough
17. Gastroptosis
18. Acute and chronic gastritis
19. Gastric hyperacidity
20. Acute duodenal ulcer (Pain relief)
21. Acute duodenal ulcer (without complications)
22. Acute and chronic colitis
23. Acute bacillary dysentery
24. Constipation
25. Diarrhoea
26. Paralytic ileus

Neurological and Musoulo - skeletal Disorders:

27. Headache
28. Migraine
29. Trigeminal neuralgia
30. Facial palsy (early stage, i.e. Within three to six month)
31. Pareses following a stroke
32. Periphrat neuropathies
33. Sequelae of poliomyelitis (early stage, i.e. within six months)
